Question

Suppose a doctor measures the height, x, and head circumference, y, of 8 children and obtains the data below. The correlation coefficient is 0.813 and the least squares regression line is y 0.190x + 12.220. Complete parts (a) through (c) below. We are allowed to do 1 question at a time. Post again for second question.

a) R square is also called coefficient of determination. Multiply R times R to get the R square value. In other words Coefficient of Determination is the square of Coefficeint of Correlation.

R^2 = 0.813^2 = 0.661 or 66.1%

b) approx 66.1% of the variation in Head circumference

Model appears to be reasonable.

b)
