I need a discussion response to my peers discussion post

I don’t think soldiers should be able to join unions. I think this only because how the service even works. When someone joins the military and any other service, they already know how it works. Being in the service you already know they abide by very strict rules and they follows orders by their superiors, they don’t really get a voice to speak their opinions and those soldiers are aware of it beforehand. So, being in a union would not work out for them.

            It is possible for an employer to refuse that a union be created in an organization, under certain guidelines. For an employer to refuse a union be created there has to be restrictions as to not allowing a union within the workplace, this equally has to apply to restrictions of not allowing outside unions as well. The book had stated, “restrictions on both employees and nonemployee union organizations must be equally enforced” (Budd, 2017, p.209).

            Technically no employee can legally be forced to be a dues-paying union member, but they can be forced to pay certain dues or be fired. If a bargaining agreement or law permits this, an employee can be forced to pay certain union fees. If a person does not want to join the union and they notify that union about it, the fees that are due will be limited to the unions cost of bargaining activities.

Joining Unions should not be allowed to the soldiers on the basis of the service being offered by them. The functioning of any kind of service is quite commonly known to anyone who wishes to join the service industry including the army. Before joining the army or any other service field, the persons must be knowing that this is the area where there are very strict rules, no freedom for expressing the opinion and one has to abide by the directions of seniors.

By fowling some specific guidelines, the union formation can be prevented by the employer. For this to happen, the employer has to restrict both internal and external unions in the workplace as it was mentioned as “restrictions on both employees and nonemployee union organizations must be equally enforced”

No restriction can be made on the employee to pay for the union however he or she has to pay some certain dues or there is a danger of losing job, however this can be forced on an employee provided that it is permitted by “restrictions on both employees and nonemployee union organizations must be equally enforced” If the employee does not wish to join union and he or she conveys it to the unions, then only      unions cost of bargaining activities has to be paid.
