For a randomly selected respondent, what is the probability that a respondent d. Based on the survey results, does there appear to be a difference between ages 18-29 ing will not pose a serious threat during his/her lifetime? will not pose a serious threat during his/her lifetime? answers yes? and 30+ regarding concern over global warming?Explanation / Answer
Answer to the question is as follows:
a. So, this is essentially finding the probability of a 18-29 years of age person whose response is No.
So, P( given 18-29 years, No)
= 131/(134+131+2)
= .491
b. P(given 18-29 years, No)
= 432/(432+293+8)
= .589
c. P( randomly selected person says a Yes)
= Yes saying people/ total people
= (134+293)/(134+131+2+293+432+8)
=.427
d. Yes, there appears a difference. There is no clear distinction in 18-29 year group people on their Response whether global warming is a concern. But for the higher age group of 30+ there is a tilt towards the No response
