Q1. Answer:
Using the structural elements in above given chapter, I would like to focus on below key drivers for comparison between "Events Are Us" and "Eloise's First Job"
Work Specialization
Events Are Us has clearly maintained principles of "Authority" and "Unity of Command".
Events Are Us follows centralized approach as decision making process was ideally flowing through Top to Bottom level.
No bottom level people were supposed to think or give any innovative suggestion/thoughts.
Here every individual is free to share their ideas, suggestion etc.
They were also free to get these suggested ideas implemented as well.
Hence decentralized approach was in practice.
Q2 Answer:
There could be various strategic contextual elements for Events Are Us based on the above context:
A. Legal Aspect
B. Team Structure
C. Economic Environment
D. Technical Aspect
E. Supporting Environment
Q3. Answer:
Events Are Us is a big organization when it comes to number of employees work here.
Hence it is quite evident that the current structure of "Events Are Us" fits well to the cultural elements. Having offices at so many places in USA and hence people across many cultural background are part of this organization.
Similarly...
Events are Us also fits to Social aspect of external environment. Reason here is that the when such a big organization functions across many places and its employees engage with clients of diverse portfolios, then the social elements of structure comes in picture.
Hence Events are Us fits social environment as well.
Q4. Answer:
The impact of current structure at Events Are Us is really big on Eloise's mind. Earlier when she used to work at her small organization, the decision making process was so quick. She was allowed to experiment with ideas, thoughts and get it implemented quickly.
Whereas at Events Are Us, Eloise is instructed to "stay in a defined box", Hence it hampers her creativity and freedom of ideas implementation. She is finding it very difficult to get even a single idea approved and implemented in quick fashion!
So overall its an adverse impact on Eloise's mind as far as her innovative thought process and creative skills are considered.
Q5. Answer:
If Eloise is very much concerned for her promotion or job security, she should listen to the instruction given to her superiors and she should never interfere in someone's work by providing any ideas/suggestions.
If she is not concerned about Job security or promotions at all, she should leave the organization (i.e. Events Are Us) and look for the opportunities where she can get her freedom of creativity and free hand to try and implement new ideas in business to benefit organization and customers simultaneously.
