Question

My reasearch hypothesis is that exposure to biphenyl a would cause more retardation in the brain development in the epiboly stage, somite stage and prim stage of zebra fish embryos at 22 degrees than at 28 degrees.
What statistical method would be used to analyze this data? I.e is it an anova, correlation, t test e.t.c My reasearch hypothesis is that exposure to biphenyl a would cause more retardation in the brain development in the epiboly stage, somite stage and prim stage of zebra fish embryos at 22 degrees than at 28 degrees.

Explanation / Answer

When we have only two samples we can use the t-test to compare the means of the samples but it might become unreliable in case of more than two samples. If we only compare two means, then the t-test (independent samples) will give the same results as the ANOVA.

Here "exposure to biphenyl" is the single factor which is the cause for retardation in the brain development in the epiboly stage, somite stage and prim stage of zebra fish embryos at 22 degrees than at 28 degrees. Thus one - way ANOVA test is suitable for this research.
