- design experiment
- please explain/show steps/answer to the question
Explanation / Answer
Here the study is Kids who were spanked have lower IQs.
If we take this study this as an experiment, you need to design the experiment keeping in view of the following
1. Randomization 2. Eliminate variability through direct control 3.Replication 4. Blocking
The Design of experiment is :
First take a set of children of certain age group (example age 5 to 9) and then randomly divide them into two groups. The sex may be a blocking variable so ensure that both groups have equal or representative number of boys and girls in both groups.
Intitially study the IQ socres of the both the groups. in one group Spank the children and another group dont spank
After some time ( one or two years later) get the IQ scores of the both groups and study their average.
Here the design satsify randomization, control , replication and blocking.
This is not an ethical study, treat one group with spanking and another group with spanking is not ethical.
First of all without any reason spanking the children for the experiment is not ethical. The reasons are
Kids/children are sensitive , spanking leads or causes long term psycological issues or problems. Since the kids are ignorant and they are at learning phase it is common to mistakes. Spanking doesn't help them to avoid mistakes but teach them with love helps to learn or understand effectively. Next instructer/parents lost respect and they behave rude in the long term. Finally this wont help to grow them as a good responsible citizents.
