Question

Can someone walk me through how to input these variables into SPSS? I need to know how to label and input them correctly into the variable view and data view of SPSS for a 2-way ANOVA.

A researcher is interested in studying the effect that the amount of fat in the diet and amount of exercise has on the mental acuity of middle-aged women. The researcher used three different treatment levels for the diet and two levels for the exercise. The results of the acuity test for the subjects in the different treatment levels are shown below.

                             Diet

Exercise          <30% fat           30% - 60% fat          >60% fat

Explanation / Answer

Ho: not significant

Ha: significant

Assume a=0.05

The p-value of Factor1 is less than 0.05, we reject Ho.

So we can conclude that Factor1 is significant.

The p-value of Factor 2 is less than 0.05, we reject Ho.

So we can conclude that Factor 2 is significant

The p-value of Interaction is less than 0.05, we reject Ho.

So we can conclude that Interaction is significant.

the effect size for Factor 1 is 315.2

the effect size for Factor 2 is 4.65
