Question

The following data are given for a two-factor ANOVA with two treatments and three blocks. Treatment Block 34 43 24 37 Using the 0.05 significance level conduct a test of hypothesis to determine whether the block or the treatment means differ. a. State the null and alternate hypotheses for treatments Ho (Click to select) H1 (Click to select) b. State the decision rule for treatments. (Round your answer to 1 decimal place.) (Click to select)Ho if the test statistic is greater than c. State the null and alternate hypotheses for blocks. (Round your answer to 1 decimal place.) Ho (Click to select) H1 (Click to select) toto tha decisinn rule for blocks

Explanation / Answer

a) H0= All treatments are homogeneous.

H1= All treatments are not homogeneous.

b) If calculated F value for treatments is less than tabulated F value then we accept H0 otherwise we reject H0.

c) H0= All blocks are homogeneous.

H1= All blocks are not homogeneous.

If F calculated for blocks is less than tabulated F value then we accept H0 otherwise we reject H0.

d&e)

Source Df SS Mss Fcal Ftab

treatment 1 121.5 121.5 34.71 18.513

block 2 142.33 71.17 20.33 19

error 2 7 3.5

total 5 270.833

f) As Fcal for both treatment and blocks is greater than Ftab we reject null hypothesis associated with both of treatments and blocks.
