Explanation / Answer
Here' the answer with formulae and explanation. Please don't hesitate to give a "thumbs rule" if you're satisfied with the answer. Have a good day ahead!
The range is difference between max and min value in this range.
Max = 2.93
Min = .03
So, range is 2.93 - .03 = 2.90
Variance is average sum of deviations from mean.
The mean is 1.3702
So, variance is basically : (1.71-1.3702)^2 + ..+ (1.49-1.3702)^2 / 50 -1 = 0.8577 ( please note that we have been asked to calculate S^2 or the Sample deviation , hence the denominator is N-1 and not N)
Standard deviation is basically sqaure root of variance = sqrt(.8577) = .9261
