The data, stopping distance is given by d =0.05v2+5.5v

Speed (v) =  30mph

Change mph into ft per sec

so that 1 Miles per Hour = 1.466667 Foot per Second

therefor for 30 mph = 30*1.4666

   = 43.999

~= 44 foot per sec

putting this value we get

d =0.05v2+5.5v

d =0.05(44)2+5.5(44)

d = 338.8 foot

distance of 338.8 ft. to stop a car going 30mph.
