Question

The 2 for 1 rule states that for each hour a student spends in the classroom, a student should spend another 2-3 hours preparing for class. 1) How do you interpret this rule? 2) Describe your schedule in as much or as little detail as you see fit. 3) How do you balance school/work/family/travel/ exercise/social/etc? Is it working? Why or why not? 4) What tips or tricks can you share with us that help you to manage your schedule (maybe they can work for us, too!) 5) Submit a recording of you discussing your interpretation of the two for one rule. Youtube link is best.

Explanation / Answer

this rule could be interpreted in the manner that in order to be well informed in a class such that every lesson taught to the student would be understood in the most appropriate manner, the student has to Be pre prepared for it. And this duration of preparation has to be double the amount of time that would be spent in the classroom, hence the rule 2 to 1 that implies double the hours of preparation as compared to the time spent in classroom. My schedule includes divided time slots, where I have dedicated time to studies, physical activities and recreational activities. I dedicate 3 hours to study every day that includes revision of the lesson that has been taught in the class along with taking a glance at the topics that would be taught the next day. I do dedicate 3-4 hours to basketball and badminton. I tend to increase the study hours when there is an additional homework assignment given. Yes, I am able to balance school, play, family, exercise and holidays. Since I tend to Complete my assignments on time and do not have any pending work, I am able to take out the time that my family needs or when the family plans for a holiday. Moreover, if I do have to take out free days, I put in extra hours reducing my sleep hours from 8 to 6. The only suggestion is to not keep any work pending. If on time work is submitted and completed, it allows a person to take out extra time for activities that mean more than work.
