Question

Edit question peer review the folowing I agree with your views on attribution theory because… A difference I see from your thoughts on behaviors based on correspondent inference theory is… I disagree with your thoughts on the discounting and augmenting principles because… Kalia may not want to date right now because she focused on her school work. She may not go out with Josh this time, but may decide to go at a later date. Josh can ask Kalia if she would be willing make a raincheck for another night. The correspondent inference theory proposes that people determine whether a behavior corresponds to an actor’s internal disposition based on whether the behavior was intended, the behavior’s consequences were foreseeable, the behavior was freely chosen and the behavior occurred despite countervailing forces (Kenrick 2015, pg. 94). Aside from the information provided in the scenario, “Was Kalia afraid that her friends would not be nice to Josh?” Did she think that they would not leave them alone if they went on a date? What did Kalia really have to lose? Were her friends that big of an influence on her decisions? Shouldn’t we make our decisions based on our own best interest, not what our friends think or want for us?

Explanation / Answer

From the above scenerios it could be revealed that Kalia was not exactly afraid of any thing but she wants to take actions and like to give reactions at her own pace. Whatever she does or thinks should be direct to the facts and must not be via. Here in this case , kalia is avoiding to go on the date for two reasons , first Josh is approaching him which is creating a mental pressure on her so she feels safe on not entering into this date and secondly she gives priority to her studies.

May be there be a big influence of her friends on her decisions but it depends on one,s personality . Kalia feels more comfortable in her decisions which is also important for her to keep inner peace and harmony.

In my opinion , one should make decisions based on own interests because else if we start sacrificing on the decisions we have to regret later on and it has a very bad mental effects , may be leading to depressions and frustations. Sometimes within the immidiate family we are bound to take decisions which we dont like to , but to maintain the peace and harmony in the family only. If the other members of the family gives values of this compromises and sacrifices then it may go on further else it would lead the relationship to break it.
