Q: What can be the limitations of the process-focus strategy? And how to address?

A: Process strategy is an approach companies use to transform resources into goods and service. Process-focus strategy is one of the four Process Strategies. This strategy involves production of Process-focus itself has advantages but also some limitations. The first limitation is the Process-focus requires a more highly trained personnel. The managers and workers who implementing Process-focus strategy are required to be fully trained and high skills in order to properly done their job. Also, it has a more difficult production planning and control because process-focus strategy is usually used by companies with high production volumes. Another limitation is that the equipment utilization in process-focus is often low. It is because the peak demand loads is desired. The companies need to produce a variety of products or services. Therefore, the same equipment is not used for all products.

2. Low utilization of equipment

3. Increased variable costs

Solutions could be :

1. Innovative equipments that can decrease variable costs and increase utilization

2. Offering benefits for employees to ensure retention and improving training programs
