a group of managers is discussing the intelligence characteristics of their employees to determine who would be the best fit for a particular position. They make the following assessments: *Wilma is brilliant but doesn't have enough sense to tie her shoes."

*Barney is like a calculator, but nobody can stand to work with him." *Fred can sell ice to an Eskimo, but I'm not sure he'd know how to write up the invoice." * Betty isn't very productive, but she knows how to light up the office with her presence which makes everybody else work better." Using the concepts of Analytical, Creative, Practical, and Emotional intelligence, identify they type of intelligence that would mostly be characteristic of each of the characters above.

Explanation / Answer

The examples discussed in the above mentioned question states few abilities each character possess and also the other abilities they lack.

Each and every person is uniquely intelligent in their own ways , some of them have a great IQ( intelligence quotient) but lack emotional qoutient while others may have graet EQ but lack enough IQ, while others have both. Successful characters are those who have IQ as well as good EQ and also have better ability to apply what they have in practical aspects of their work and lives.

Here in above example-

1. Wilma is brilliant means she has great intelligent quotient ,may be has good analytical intelligence but lacks practical intelligence.

2.Barney is like a calculator ,but nobody can stand to work with him, means he has great analytical skills to compute, has good reasoning, is able to judge better,assess things easily but he lacks ability to know and express ones emotions and does not know how to Handel interpersonal relationships judiciously,thus nobody can stand to work with him. Thus Barney has good analytical intelligence but lacks emotional intelligence.

3.Fred is found to have ability to even sell ice to an Eskimo with his good creative ways and knows how to apply his abilities practically to convince people in the world. So he has good craetive and practical intelligence but lacks analytical intelligence.

4. Betty as stated isn't very productive but she knows how to light up the office by being emotionally intelligent,as in she can empathize well with others,can make good friends easily,can maintain good relationship with all, she knows how to manage her emotions and also know how to deal with emotions of others. Thus even if she lack analytical skills she has great emotional intelligence.

So the managers may make the best choice by knowing the skills these people possess and the type of work the particular vacant position in the office demands. Ultimately no person can achieve everything they will possess some things and lack something no one is perfect.
