Jordan's Experience Last year as a freshman in college, I was advised to enroll in a general education fitness and wellness course. I played high school sports and thought I knew all there was to know about being fit and in shape. As the course started, I realized I didn't really know how important it was to exercise regularly and take good care of myself. It quickly became my favorite class, and I couldn't wait to try what I was leaming. I started cardio and strength workouts according to an exercise prescription I wrote myself. I didn't even know there was such a thing as an "exercise prescription." I even stretched once in a while and started to eat better. As I became more fit, I started to feel better about myself, I lost weight, I toned up, I had so much more energy, and I actually started to enjoy exercise. It is fun to work out! now know that how well I will live the rest of my life has a lot to do with wellness choices I make. (Answer) (1) Jordan is already someone who plays sports and is familiar with the kind of diligence that a regular work out would entail. However, Jordan might probably not know that as one gets older, it becomes tougher to manage even less serious issues like knee ache, diabetes, backaches and other issues. An athlete could surely lose concentration if all they have to worry about is medical issues that get harder to cope with when age sets in. To avoid that future scenario, Jordan might be convinced to working out regularly at an early age.

(2) Other than passing a grade, wellness and fitness pursuits become like an investment for one’s future health. In this case, the final capital becomes a worry-free future in terms of health issues and fewer medical expenses. This means that the capital to be gained from the investment of exercises is both figurative and literal.

(3) Perhaps 45 minutes a day and taking a little extra trouble to read healthy recipe books and cooking healthy meals is the extra investment needed. This might take a little time and effort now but, in the long run, a healthy lifestyle is never something that is to be regretted. Perhaps it is called an “investment”, simply because there is an accumulated profit at a future date. This makes the time and energy invested, worth the benefit of good health.
