gerrymandering is the process of manipulating the district boundaries thus favouring or bringing political advantage to a party. It done through three major tactics. Firstly, cracking where the majority of voters will be scattered to different districts thus preventing majority. Secondly, packing where people from different districts will be brought to a district to give advantage. Finally, homogenisation where same group or class of people such as class, age etc. will be brought together.
The supreme court has only suggested that gerrymandering based on racial grouping would become unconstitutional but however accepted the other reasons.
