Question
After a bitter break-up, a man could not handle the fact that his ex-girlfriend would not take him back. He wallowed in self -pity for several weeks and then decided that he needed to confront her. He approached her in a parking lot as she was leaving work and began begging her to get back together with him. She refused his requests and asked him to leave her alone. He became extremely angry and grabbed her by the throat. He forced her into the back of his SUV and tied her up. He drove to his residence and locked her in a room in his basement. He told her that if he could not have her as a girlfriend, then no one would ever see her again.
Based on this scenario, identify the crime that the man committed
Explanation / Answer
It could be crime of passion,a crime committed because of very strong emotional feelings and without any preplanned motive. It just happened in the heat of the moment as she refused him,the crime was driven by a strong impulse like rage or anger rather than as a premeditated crime. And keeping the dead body with himself indicated his obsession with her and this obsession of having the girl all to himself drove him to this extreme of killing her and not letting her go but keeping the body so that nobody could see her. This destructive nature of obsession clearly made him a murderer.
