Question

Once you have been asked to lead a project, how would you approach working with your project team and stakeholders to define the final deliverable(s) and the success criteria that the deliverable(s) must meet? During these initial discussions, what questions could you pose to assist the team and stakeholders so they have a shared understanding of the final deliverable(s)? How could you proceed if, during the initial discussions, several stakeholders had conflicting opinions about the success criteria for the final deliverable(s)?

Explanation / Answer

>> Initially the basic goal of the project has to be defined. Then the final deliverables have to be defined in depth building them around this basic goal. While defining success criteria or project deliverables, first question on how these deliverables are aligned with the basic goal of the project should have a clear answer. The basic goal should be in a way that it is aligned with the overall strategy ,culture and values of the organization.

>> When stakeholders have conflicting opinions about success criteria, then all the criteria listed by them have to be checked for whether they are in line with the basic goal of the project and those which are more relevant have to be chosen.
