This does NOT mean to simply repeat the symptoms you described in Part 1 above. Rather, what you need to do is consider each of the five "criteria for abnormality" discussed in Mod. 37 and in class (for example. "Abnormality as a sense of personal discomfort"). Given the symptoms described above, how many and which of the five criteria seem to apply? How do they apply? In other words, why is this condition considered a "disorder" and not just another variation in human nature? Compare two approaches to understanding this disorder (such as "Medical" vs. "Psychoanalytic" perspectives) and state which you prefer (and why). This requires that you consider information in the "Perspectives on Abnormality" section of Mod. 37 (and summarized in Figure 1). Select two perspectives to consider. How would each one explain the causes of this disorder? Compare them. Do you have a preference, and if so, why? (For example, does one perspective seem to suggest a therapy or treatment that you find more appealing for some reason?) For adequate depth, your total response should be from 1-2 pages in length, but no less than one full page in length, not including titles, etc. This assignment should be typed, double-spaced, with 12-point font and 1-inch margins, with the 3 ports above indicated.
