Explanation / Answer

1.There Are Three Basic Components-Schemas; (building blocks of knowledge). Adaptation processes that enable the transition from one stage to another (equilibrium, assimilation, and accommodation) and Stages of Cognitive Development: One of Piaget's many theories was that of Genetic Epistemology, which is the study of the origins (genesis) of knowledge (epistemology). It is a study that involves cognitive developmental psychology. It explains how humans develop cognitively from birth throughout life. It is broken up into the Four Stages of Cognitive Development: Sensorimotor - Birth to age 2, Preoperational - Age 2 to age 7, Concrete Operational - Age 7 to age 11 & Formal Operational - Age 11 to Adulthood. 3.Assimilation involves the interpretation of events in terms of existing cognitive structure whereas accommodation refers to changing the cognitive structure to make sense of the environment. Cognitive development consists of a constant effort to adapt to the environment in terms of assimilation and accommodation. The goal of assimilation is to maintain the status quo. By assimilating information, you are keeping your existing knowledge and schemas intact and simply finding a place to store this new information. It's like buying a new book and finding a place to keep it on your bookshelves. Accommodation, on the other hand, involves actually changing your existing knowledge of a topic. This is like buying a new book, realizing it doesn't fit in any of your existing bookshelves, and buying a whole new shelving unit to store all of your books in. 8.Epistemology is the area of philosophy that is concerned with knowledge. The main concerns of epistemology are the definition of knowledge, the sources of knowledge (innate ideas, experience, etc.), the process of acquiring knowledge and the limits of knowledge. Epistemology considers that knowledge can be obtained through experience and/or reason.A primary concern of epistemology is the very definition of knowledge itself. The traditional definition, since Plato, is that knowledge is justified true belief.
