He recently noticed that none of his students could answer questions about the setting of a story, but he had taught lessons about the setting and discussed the settings of several stories. Students had eagerly answered questions and received stickers. Now that he is revisiting the topic, his students don’t remember what they learned. Suggest how Mr. Cardot might alter his approach and achieve integrated regulation.

The second grade students of Mr. Cardot is learning for the stickers that they get on completion of their assignment. They are motivated extrinsically, hence, they forgot what they have learned. If Mr. Cardot alters his behavioral approach to social cognitive approach and motivates his students intrinsically, then they will remember what they have learned. Hence, instead of using stickers, Mr. Cardot should give them challenging tasks, help by guiding them, and help them to find the value in learning. This would be achieved if Mr. Cardot authentically designs his tasks to motivate his students intrinsically, and this would increase the probability of remembering the learnt topics in students.
