Question
Human Development Kohlberg created a theory of moral development in which he evaluated individuals' responses to moral dilemmas. The most well known dilemma is the Heinz dilemma. Imagine you are a participant in Kohlberg's study. Please respond to the following 1. Read the Heinz dilemma: In Europe, a woman was near death from a special kind of cancer. There was one drug that might save her. It was a form of radium that a druggist in the same town had recently discovered. The drug was expensive to make, but the druggist was charging $2,000, ten times more than what the drug cost him to make. The sick woman's husband, Heinz, went to everyone he knew to borrow the money, but he could only get together half of the money. He told the druggist that his wife was dying and asked him to sell it cheaper or let him pay later. But the druggist said no Should Heinz steal the drug? Why or why not? (Your response should be approximately 50-75 words in length) 1. Using what you've read in the textbook, what level of reasoning (preconventional conventional, or postconventional) does your response fall under? Why? (Your response should be approximately 50-75 words in length)Explanation / Answer
Heinz,s situation is very critical and at this stage taking decisions is really very tough. Anyhow as we have only two options , either to select from that , so if Heinz fail to buy that medicine then her wife surely will die as there is no other way. But if he steals the medicine and give it to her wife she may be alive . Now if Heinz is confident that he would be able to pay the price later on then he should go for this decision though morally not right but in adjunct to the situation it is correct. If we look at the bad side of stealing the medicine what could be the punishment , the penalty and imprisonment , if he pays those amounts afterwards then situation hopefully will change , because its the only money for which that druggist is seeking for .
