Question
You serve on the advisory committee of the University’s bookstore, which is a private business that leases space on campus and donates 10 percent of its profits to student scholarships. The head of the bookstore wishes to stock Simple Study Guides, a popular series of plot summaries and character analyses of classic literary works. In similar bookstores, the sale of Simple Study Guides yields annual profits of more than $10,000. Six academic departments have signed a statement condemning the idea.
***Write a detailed memo stating either your support for the bookstore head or the academic departments. Ensure that you give clear and substantial reasoning to back your decision.
Explanation / Answer
I totally support for the bookstore head, as selling of single study guides which is a collection of popular series of plot summaries & character analyses of classic literary works. Its is nowhere a bad deal for students. And also as being a boostore head he is doing nothing bad if he is providing students a simple study guide. The bookstore head is doing business also and also giving students knowledge of an extra curricular activities. So there is no point of any objection. The thing that can be done is to ask the bookstore head that like the advisory committee is doing same way he should also give a little amount of his earning as scholarship. In this way the bookstore head will also earn and there will also be a larger scholarship amount for the students.
