6. The cortex of the lymph node contains spherical clusters called lymphatic nodules that contain primarily B-lymphocytes.

The lymph node comprises of multiple lymphoid nodules that are arranged side by side anchored to the hillus by vascular roots. The lymphoid nodules are separated from the capsule by the subcapsular sinus. The apex is part of the nodal cortex and the base forms part of the nodal medulla. The nodal cortex is bilayered with a superficial cortex and a deep cortex. The superficial cortex is composed of spherical follicles that contain B-lymphocytes, which survey follicular dendritic cells. The paracortex or deep cortex contains T lymphocytes that survey dendritic cells.

7. Non specific immune response is the first line of immune response to foreign antigens. It results in formation of no specific antibodies and immune cells. Large number of antibodies is stored in anticipation of an immune response in areas where there is more chance of injury or exposure to antigens. It is a response that determines self and non self. Skin is the organ that is involved in non specific immune response. Sebaceous gland secretes sebum that has antibacterial properties.

Specific immune response is a result of generation of specific antibodies against the pathogens. T helper lymphocytes are recognizing the antigen in combination with MHC. MHC I are recognized by CD8+ T cells and MHC II are recognized by CD4+ T cells. These interactions stimulate plasma cells to form B lymphocytes. B lymphocytes generate the antibodies against the antigen. Plasma cell converts to memory cells, which will initiate immune response if the antigen is recognized in a second attack. Primary response occurs when the body first recognizes the pathogen and involved IgM. In secondary response, involving memory cells, IgG is involved.
