Can someone help to paraphrase these paragraphs?
Over the past 10 years, there has been a significant increase in the divorce rate in Malaysia. The research has shown that there is a total of 56,700 divorces reported in Malaysia in year 2012, which is double the rate of that reported in year 2002 (Lyn, 2014; Durai, 2015). In other words, there will be one divorce case reported every 10 minutes in Malaysia. However, this statistic does not consist of marriages that do not undergo proper divorce processes due to various constraints, and consequently, the real separation or divorce statistics are expected to be higher in reality. The significant growth of divorce rate has signaled the society on potential challenges and issues to the ongoing economic growth in Malaysia, especially the stability of families within the society. Thus, the main idea of this research is to examine how the attachment orientation influent on marital satisfaction; whether attachment orientation can be presuming as a predictor of satisfaction among young adults.
Based on numerous years of chronological observation, it can be concluded that most of the people who experience marital satisfaction have the tendency of being more successful in all aspects of their lives as compared to those who are not. Hawkins (1968) defines marital satisfaction as subjective feelings that comprise of happiness, satisfaction, and pleasure, over the time spent by couples. The main factor that affects the level of satisfaction among married couples would be the interaction between spouses, which is directly reflecting the quality of marriage and happiness that couples perceive in the relationship. In other words, low marital satisfaction among couples is one of the key predictors for divorce (Hirschberger, 2009).
A good and healthy marriage is one of the most important foundations in educating the second generation in civic virtues such as honesty, loyalty, trust, responsibility and respect towards others. Hence, when the divorce rate is increasing significantly, we have to acknowledge the fact that a well-developed and healthy family acts as a role model, and it is crucial during the upbringing process particularly in nurturing the children’s personality and social skills. Research has shown that children from divorce families tend to lose companionship from parents and are less likely to develop secured attachment, which is believed to be crucial in developing pro-social behavior and healthy personality, as well as a good motive for adult romantic relationships (Bowlby, 1988a; Shaver & Hazan, 1993). Vice versa, children who are not securely attached are prone to psychopathic behaviors such as antisocial behavior, depression and personality disorder (Boldero et al., 2009; Scott, Levy, & Pincus, 2009).
By understanding the relationship between attachment orientation and marital satisfaction, this study should redefine the factors of divorce with scientific explanation that increase the accountability of individuals over the divorce. Instead of putting the responsibility of divorce over fates and other uncontrollable external factors, it encourages couples to take further actions or to put more effort in enhancing marriage experiences with their spouses (Fraley, 2010; Brogaard, 2015). This can be done consciously by acknowledging personal attachment orientation, and working cooperatively in tolerating and overcoming one another’s limitations. Certainly, it requires hard work from both parties, and successful attachment with one another over the process that would bring prominent changes in life. The act of acknowledging the correlation between attachment orientation and marital satisfaction shall inspire federal institutions to take proactive actions in developing intervention strategies in promoting high quality marriages. Marriage counseling in Malaysia is yet to be popular and accessible to all to-be married couple, where most of the young couples do not consider having pre-marital counseling before they officially register for marriage. The government shall recognize the importance of pre-marital counseling in enhancing the marriage experience amongst young adults and emphasize it through policy making and public education.
