How is homework used by rational- emotive behavior therapists to help clients change their faulty belief system ?
Explanation / Answer
Rational emotive behaviour therapy is a therapy that has been built on the basic theory that the cognitive, emotional and the behaviour aspect of a person are in constant interaction with one another, and this interaction is highly significant and these have highly reciprocal relationship in the form of cause and effect.
One of the major aspects of this therapy is through homework p. Homework is a form of assignment that has been carefully designed for a particular patient in an individualised manner, such that if the client is carrying out these acts, his attitude and emotional changes are bound to happen. The therapist assigns the client with these homework’s and these would be later cross checked in upcoming sessions. The client has an induction of change in the thought process, and the client , through these assignments, would learn ways through which they would be able to discard the thoughts that instigate self defeat.
