Explanation / Answer
Why is it important to respect the intellectual property of others? Summarize in your own words the meaning of plagiarism and intellectual property theft.
It is important to protect the intellectual property of others due to a number of reasons. Intellectual property violation of a person occurs when some ideas, logins or identity processes are taken and used without taking information from anyone else. These ideas may be in the form of the services or any thought that is the unique selling point of their business. It is important to protect the intellectual property of others , since it is a very troublesome job to generate an idea that is completely original. It may be in the form of a painter who has developed a new idea and generated the same. Or it may be in the form of a novel or a business idea. Since, there is a lot of mental strength required for generating a new idea, intellectual property rights require to be protected.
Plagiarism: plagiarism is the process in which a person copies the thoughts, ideas, published work, language etc. of a person, as a wrongful appropriation of the work of the author, without giving him proper credit. Moreover, representing this person's work as the original work of another person, is plagiarism.
Intellectual property rights theft is when people or major companies are robbed of their ideas or inventions or any creativity that results in those newer ideas. Intellectual property theft may be in the form of theft of ideas of movies, softwares or music or art.
Explain why it is difficult to trust someone who is considered an intellectual property thief? Is there a difference between stealing ideas from stealing someone’s physical property. Why or why not?
It is difficult to trust a person who's stealing intellectual property, because it is stealing in the end. No , I do not think that there is any difference in physical stealing and stealing of intellectual property since the person is ultimately stealing. In fact, stealing of materialistic things can be considered the lesser evil, since that thing can be bought, though after some time, depending upon the economic status of the person, but he can own it again and get it back. Whereas, for people are stealing intellectual property or ideas of other people, it is a greater evil, since they would have to again invest that much time and energy in generating a new idea, which the person cannot even use the stolen idea or claim it as his.
