Author and authority come from the same root, Latin auge, which means to augment. The auctor is a person who carries out augmentation of an act or any juridical situation. Auctoritas is the origin of the word authority. This is Latin in origin. Auctor refers to a founder and auctoritas refers to a person's rightful ownership depending on the person producing or sponsored an article.
How does authority, viewed this way, differ from our common perception of "authority" in a bureaucratic or militant way?
Author viewed this way is completely different from its actual meaning. This is because in the bureaucratic way, author refers someone who has power, who is a trendsetter and whose value is at the highest in a society. Author or authority is a person who rules over the others and whose words are the last words.

I am the authority in this case. Me being the authority implies that I have the utmost power over people. I probably have the maximum wealth as compared to any other person in the country. When having an authority in a presentation, I would prove my experiences by putting inputs of the work I've done and a brief introduction of myself and some of the research that I have done in that field to be able to talk about. Also, I would make my presentation more interesting by trying to incorporate images and graphical representations of the data, so that I could capture the attention of the audience and make them hear me with interest.
