Psychotic disorders are a group of serious illnesses that affect the mind. People with this disorders behave abnormally and do not mingle up with the other peoples.
One of the disorders is: Schizophrenia -People with this illness shows changes in their behaviour and other symptoms -- such as delusions and hallucinations -- that last longer than 6 months. It usually affects them at work or school, as well as their relationships.
Person- My friend is suffering from Schizophrenia. He suddenly gets anger, argues that what he said and believed was always true, forgets the things soon, and doesn’t think much. He was a drug addict too. Now he has stopped, but unfortunately ended up with this disorder.
Clinician- How long he is suffering from this disorder?
Person- since 2 months
Clinician- Did you consult any doctor?
Person- Yes, but it didn’t work out. Is there any treatment to cure this disorder?
Clinician- Yes. Schizophrenia requires lifelong treatment. Treatment with medications and psychosocial therapy can help manage the condition. In some cases, hospitalization may be needed. Antipsychotic medications are the most commonly prescribed drugs. They're thought to control symptoms by affecting the brain neurotransmitter dopamine.
