The movement began after Donald trump being elected as the president on 9th November by Teresa shook. They created a Facebook event for marching up to Washington as protest in the loss of the first female presidential nominee. Though, when asked, Teresa shook said, that the protest was not aimed at Donald trump but just to be more active about the women's rights. Sarsour said that this was a stand on human rights and social justice about ethnicity, gender, religion, race, healthcare and even immigration.
What was the purpose of the Women's Marches in January 2017?
The women's march in January 2017, had a number of reasons, primary of them was the LGBTQIA Rights, for the uplift the status of the les-bians, bi, gay, trans gender people. It was to be free from the norms of gender and to be free from the stereotypes. Also, legislation rights for racial equality and workers' rights were talked about. Worker's rights were also of importance where a demand for accountability, transparency, equity and security was talked about. Also, it was stated that women should have equal pay as well as equal sick days.
