Question
Now I would like you to apply the Utilitarian and the Kantian criteria for moral wrongness (causing harm, and disrespecting the autonomy and dignity of others) to another moral controversy.
Consider the case of Polyamorous Relationships andMarriages and, in 2 or more paraphaphs, explain what, if anything, might be morally wrong with them according to Utilitarian and Kantian criteria for moral wrongness explained above.
If you think they are wrong for any other reason (than those given by Utilitianism and Kantian Ethics) please explain what that it is.
"Polyamorous Marriages" are marriages between more than two adults: it could be 1 man and 2 or more women (polygamy), 1 woman and 2 or more men (polyandry), or 2 or more men and 2 or more women.
It will help first to do some independent research onlineabout these polyarmous relationships and the debate over such marriages. "Please. I atleast need 2 paragraphs minimal. Thank you.
Explanation / Answer
According to the Utilitarian and the Kantian criteria, moral wrongness is the act of causing harm and disrespecting the autonomy and dignity of others. Further according to Immanuel Kant; lying is always morally wrong and being ethical is respecting that power in oneself and others.
Polyamorous Relationships and Marriages might be morally wrong according to Utilitarian and Kantian ideas as these relationships are generally not accepted by society and to have these relationships we have to lie in society and maintain them secretly; which is unethical. Apart from this while maintaining these relationships we will be negating and disrespecting the views held by society at large.
