Question

2. Social relationships change significantly as we age. Chapter 18 of HDEV details how the social world and intimate relationships adapt to the constraints of older adulthood. Why do you think marital relationships become more stable as we age? What is cohabitation and why do you think couples who cohabitate during later adulthood have a stronger commitment to stay together as compared to younger couples who cohabitate? Do you approve these types of living and love relationships? Why or why not?

Explanation / Answer

In my opinion Marital relationships become more stable when we grow up or when we become older because as we grow older there is a sense of commitment i. e. commitment to Have long term relationship with the partner develops. Moreover when we grow older mutual trust and respect to other partner develops and there is a strong cohesive bond builds up between the partners that is why during older age marital relationship is more stable.

Cohabitation means living together and establishing sexual relationships between the couples. When couples start celebrating at later adulthood, they are more Serious to maintain the relationship and hence there is a greater commitment for staying together. No I am against the practice of living together before marriage. In my opinion,   it is morally wrong and unethical to cohabitation before marriage. Hence I am not approving such type of relationships.
