1_12785SU1BV> Discussions > W4-DQ #1-Moral Development This is a graded discussion: 5 points possible W4-DQ #1-Moral Development Read the following scenaria: A man's wife is dying. There is one drug that could save her life, but it s very expensive, and the drusgist who invented it due Jul 5 and the drussist who invented it will not sell t at a price low enough for the man to buy it. Finaly, the man becomes desperate and considers stealing the drus for his wife. What should he do and why? (1) Explain what you would do if you were faced with this situation. (2) Defend your position as why you think it is morally right, supporting your position with theories discussed in this chapterExplanation / Answer
1. The man should steal the drug. This is more correct, since, if the druggist inventingthe drug actually invented it for a greater good of people and not a greater pay, then he should have allowed to supply the drug at a reasonable pay, for curing the Patient. His primary motive is of becoming rich and that doesn’t comply with utilitarian ethics of making the greatest number of people happy. In this case, if the wife is cured, it will at least make the wife and the husband happy, along with Making every person associated with her happy, probably also reducing the cost of the drug.
2. My action could be supported by the utilitarian ethics.
