If a counseling psychologist is meeting with a patient, who shares that he has committed a crime, if the psychologist feels that the client can be a potential harm for the victim or anyone he should inform the police about it, in this case ethics of confidentiality can be violated as an exception. If the clint has committed a crime and no longer is an immidiate threat then the psychologist should try to convince his Clint to go open about it and confess, if this does not work he should inform the police and should inform the clint about the same too.
