Question

1) Paper 1 "Design A Toy." Minimum of 600 words.
Developmental psychologists view play as the major means through which physical, cognitive, and social skills are mastered, especially during the preschool years. Unfortunately, many adults are so involved with the work ethic that they do not appreciate the role of children's play. Some punish their children for "horsing around" too much, or they criticize preschool teachers for letting children play too much, or they may schedule their children's lives so heavily with lessons and chores that there is little time for play. Your task in this assignment is to design a toy suitable for a child in the age range of 2 to 12 years old (pick a specific age). Keep in mind the physical, cognitive, and social needs of children. Then answer these questions about your toy:
What is the name of the toy? Describe the toy. How old is the child for whom the toy is intended? How does the child play with it? What features of the toy make it developmentally appropriate? What domain (s) of development is your toy designed to stimulate? How are the domains stimulated? What are the specific features of the toy (size, shape, color, noise-making properties, etc.) that enhance its attractiveness and play value? What considerations are there for preventing injury when the toy is used? As you are working on your written paper, keep in mind that the primary function of the paper is to show your ability to apply concepts and theories covered in the course. Effective communication in speaking, listening, and writing is a key to career and personal success. These papers are designed to foster skill building in the area of effective written expression and critical thinking related to psychological topics of human growth and development. The paper should be a minimum of two typed pages in length. Introduction. Begin with a paragraph (or section) that clearly and concisely summarizes the issues and factors, theory, concept, or article upon which you are basing your paper.

Application. This is very important. In this section, you should demonstrate, by citing examples, personal experience, or other sources, that you understand the subject matter and that you are applying the correct theory.
Conclusion. Analyze and summarize the material and comment on it in view of what you have learned about the subject from your reading of the text and the other approved resources. This section gives you the opportunity to express your feelings, opinions, and ideas about the subject. Discuss whether you agree or disagree with the theory, concept or article and why. What conclusions do you draw after exploring the topic? What important questions related to the topic remain unanswered for you?

Citation and style: A close approximation of APA format and style is expected. Whether you make a direct quote or paraphrase, in the body of the paper, include the last name of the author and the date of the publication following your quote for example: (Boyd, 2012, p. xx).
References: A reference page should be added to your paper giving the full citation from which the quote, paraphrase, or idea was taken.

Explanation / Answer

Name of toy-Bobo doll.

Describe the toy--Toy is made of plastic with a flexible base which rotates when it is hit in the face to observe the behaviour of the child as silent or as aggressive.

Age of child-4 year old.

This experiment explains the observational behaviour in children in different situations to study their aggressive response. Their learned behaviour is observed by observing the surrounding environment. It consists of three settings---one in which there is reward for hitting the toy, one in which the child is punished and one in which the the child is neither punished or rewarded. A film was shown in which an adult was shown hitting the toy agressively.

Play of child-Child has to punch the toy after showing different types of behaviour like aggressive, violent, frustrating or silent.

Domains stimulated--They were stimulated by showing films of people hitting the toy and showing different kinds of emotions.

Boys were more aggressive as compared to girls. It was based on reward as some students did not hit the doll untill they were given incentives and rewards for hitting the toy.

Social learning theory implies the modeling of toys with center of gravity for balancing it. The toy is made of plastic and filled with an air-cavity. When it is hit it bounces back creating aggression and frustration in the toy.Students are susceptible to television violence after seeing various situations of crime on television. It suggests the growth and behaviour of child in various stages of development.
