Question

Name HEART ASSIGNMENT it. Bring it to class on Friday, Sept. 14 Please print out this assignment and complete to turn it in. You may work with a classmate, but each student must write and turn in their on D2L. own assignment. If you have questions, please post them on the Discussion board 1. Blood Pathway. In the space below, write the complete circuit of a red blood cell passing through the cardiopulmonary circulation (the heart and lungs) and the great vessels of the mediastinum. List the names of all the structures the blood passes through in the correct order, choosing from the structures listed below. R - right, L left. The blood cell comes from the left side of the upper body (e.g. the left arm or left side of the face), so #1 should be the vessel bringing deoxygenated blood from the left side of the upper body. After being oxygenated, the blood is sent to the right arm, so the last structure should be the vessel bringing oxygenated blood to the right arm. Include the valves of the heart. The blood could pass through either the right or the left lung (and pulmonary a. and pulmonary v.) we don't have any way of knowing which. You will not use all of the structures listed below. Figure 3.63 in your book should help with the general pattern if you are stuck. R common carotid a. L brachiocephalic v R brachiocephalic v. pulmonary trunk R atrium L ventricle pulmonary valve R subclavian a. brachiocephalic trunk L or R pulmonary vein aortic arch L atrium bicuspid/mitral valve R ventricle aortic valve Lor R lung LorR pulmonary artery superior vena cava inferior vena cava tricuspid valve
