4) Great saphenous vein: it is the major superifical vein of the medial leg and thigh it is longest vein in the human body extending from the top of the foot to the upper thigh and groin, it is the clinically used in bypass surgery because of the superifical location and the redundancy of veins in the legs , it can be harvested as venous graft, and it is used in emergency cases where a patient is in shock and has suffered the collapse of more commonly used veins so in this case the great saphenous vein can be used to deliver fluids and blood to replenish the body and during bypass surgery the great saphenous vein is removed from the leg and sutured to the area of bypass then the vein is either turned so that its venous valves permit proper blood flow or its valves permit proper blood flow or its valves are removed prior to being sutured in place.as great saphenous vein is the largest superifical vein of the lower limb and it drains the medial leg and thigh and empties into the femoral vein the great saphenous vein is choosen it becauseit is the vein that connects to the other veins. 5)The ealstic fibres or yellow fibres are bundles of protein found in the connective tissue the defects of the elastic fibres of the blood vessel walls are defective it is seen in marfans syndrome etc so thesymptoms of the marfans syndrome are blurred vision, and weakened aortic walls etc auch condition is probelmatic to the arteries then to the vein because the walls of the arteries are thicker compare to the vein walls because the thick walls of the arteries should withstand the high blood pressure compare to the vein blood pressure.
