Explanation / Answer

Malignant skin lesions: The carcinoma of basal cells, squamous epithelial cells, and melanoma cells are the most common carcinomas of the skin. The common cause of malignancies of the skin is overexposure to the UV (ultraviolet) light. Other etiological factors are being fair skinned and blue eyed, overexposure to X-ray therapies, hereditary factors and exposure to certain chemicals such as arsenic, coal tar, chronic osteomyelitis, etc.

Malignant melanoma (cancer of melanocytes) is a rarely occurring type of skin cancer but spreads to the other organs rapidly, which makes it difficult to treat and cure. Unusual growth of existing goals, darkening of the moles is one of the most important signs of melanoma.

Certain characteristics are considered in the identification of a malignant melanoma, for example, the ABCDE rule. The ABCDE rule refers to “Asymmetry, Irregular border, Change in color, Increase in diameter and Elevation.” If any of these characteristics are observed in a mole, an immediate check-up should be done by a dermatologist.
