Using Hodgkinson's Value Paradigm, how would you describe the rationale for valuing honesty at each level. 3.Explanation / Answer
1) a) Deontological ethics focus primarily on adherence to independent moral rules/duties. In order to make correct moral choices, you have to understand what your moral duties are and what correct rules exist which regulate those duties. When you follow your duty you are behaving morally.
1)b) Ethical egoism in teological ethics is if an action is good if it produces or is likely to produce results that maximize the person’s self-interest as defined by him even at the expense of others. The coach didnt think about the students suffering here in this case because he didnt think abput them and didnt find any benfit if he reports to the concerned persons.
1) c) This is the case of utilitarianism based on Teleological ethics.Utilitarianism is a teleological ethical theory as it is concrned with conseuences rather than motives. Also it is concerned that the happiness of the greatest number should be the result. The value of the consequences of an action is assessed in terms of the amount of happiness or well-being caused. When you make choices which result in the correct consequences, then you are acting morally; when you make choices which result in the incorrect consequences, then you are acting immorally.
