Explanation / Answer

Type of tissue:

There are primarily four types of tissue in our bodynamely, Epithelial, Muscle, Connective, Nervous. Characteristics and functions of each tissues are described below separately--

1. Epithelial Tissue-- This is characterised by epithelial cells of different types like flat, cuboidal, columnar etc. Main functions of this tissue is to cover our body in the form of skin. It is also found lining of internal organs.

2. Muscle Tissue-- this is characterised by presence of muscle fibers which are ready to contraction. There are three types of muscle tissue in our body namely Smooth, Cardiac and Skeletal muscle.

3. Connective tissue-- This is characterised by their functional role in our body. Their function is mainly to provide support. Blood is a type of connective tissue.

4. Nervous tissue-- this is characterised by presence of nerve cells which are special cells having electrical activity. These are found in nervous system of our body. Brain and spinal cord are parts of nervous system.
