Cryptoorchidism: Defined as absense of single or both the testes from scrotal sac. There are many contributing factors for this conditon in newborn.Contributing factors are premature birth, maternal diabetes, alcohol consumption by mother. It may also arises as a consequence of a congenital malformation. At the time of birth in many newborn there is absense of one or both testes, but in most of the case within one year of age both the testes descend to the scrotal sac. Cryptoorchidism if persists after one year of age, it cause male sterility. The reason behind this is the high temperature of abdomen which is not suitable for spermatogenesis.

Monoorchism: This is defined as single testes inside the scrotal sac. The reason may be undescended testes, or surgical removal of testes( due to cancer or other resons), non development of one testes during foetal development, or one testesmay be injured. This condition is not associated with male sterility as there is one normal testes.

Anorchia: This is a sex chromsomal abnormality in male. There is absence of both the testes since birth. Cause is till unknown. During developmental phase in foetus, both testes disappear, and known as vanishing testes syndrome , a congenital anomaly. In this males scrotal sac and testes are absolutely normal. Associated with male infertility.
