FIRST QUESTION Abuse of drugs is rising among college students. Drugs can be of different types and abused fordifferent functions. Prescription amphetamines are given to people who has ADHD. These drugs help people to concentrate on a task. These medication can be addictive if abused. When a student enters college then he/ she has just entered adulthood and full of life and opertunities as they wish to progress furtherin life. But in college life and in higher studies the sudent has to go through a lot of tasks like publishing articles, sumitting reports and assignments, give presentations etc. So, altogether they need to do a lot of studing and to complete the tasks aloted to them and to do this they abuse ADHD medications to focus on their studies and stey awake till late night. As these medications are given to patients by doctors so that they can focus in daily work, student abuse them to improve there concentrating power so that, they can fulfill their tasks in time. This reduces the proper sleep timings and which can lead to other difficulties. At the same time consumig these medications can lead to excessive consumption of alcohol as if they are consumed along with the drinks they cause inability of the person to realiza how much alcohol consumptiion is done. So students also abuse ADHD medicine in order to have fun and these excessive consumption of alcohol leads to liver damage.
SECOND QUESTION ADHD medicatins are nerve stimulents and they cause almost similar side effects in children and in adults. In children nausia , loss of apetite, delayed growth, sleep disorders, headaches, stomach pain, chang in mood and change in behavior when medication is warned off. In adults the symptoms are almost same. Dry mouth, dizzyness due to improper sleep cycyles, tics ( unintentionally making sounds or movements in repeated manner) are also the symptoms that are seen.
THIRD QUESTION To prevent the abuse of ADHD medicationsmeasures can be taken from different aspects. Studens can help other students to overcome the use of these medications by explaining the harm caused by the abuse of these medicatins specially those who has undergone such phase of abuse and counselling to discontinue its future use. They can also help to identify the students and can convince them to go through a series of counselling sessions to overcome drug abuse.
Faculties of any institution can conduct repeated sessions regarding harmfull effects of drug abuse. In this class they can discuss the different types of drugs their medical use and their abuse in order to teach the students about the proper useage of prescription drugs.
Administration holds a lot of potential to stop abuse and make students aware about clinical use of drugs. Institutional administrators along with the faculties can conduct classes and also counselling sessions inside the institutions so that respective students can stay away from a life threathing mistake of drug abuse and also they can save other students from it. Counselling session should be for both affected and unaffectec studens. It should be clear to all that the medications are for affected people to help them to focus on daily task, misuse of these ADHD drugs although prescribed for patients not for unaffected people.
FOURTH QUESTION Use of ADHD medications to boost up your concentration power for the upcoming exam will not give any advantage over the non users.
