Generally, adolescen is referred to as the teenage years, though, the psychological expressions may start sooner. Adulthood refers to physical changes or maturation to attain sexual maturity and it is the legal age of maturity and is different in different countries.

A. Physical development: During this period body produces several sxual hormones to develope primary and secondary charecteristics in male and females both. pituitary gland plays important role. it release gonadotropin harmone in blood that help to mature the testes in males and ovaries in females. apart from primary sexual charecteristics and secondary sexual charecteristics.

physical development in the males as well as females, which may be in the form of physical growth, including development of facial hair in males, with a change in voice, appearance of moustache and development of bre-asts in females along with the start of menstrutaion. thus, adolescence in reality may begin sooner for the individuals having early onset of puberty.

B. Cognitive development: In adolescence, there may be various cognitive developments in the individual. individuals in this phase of their life may seem to be in constant conflict with norms and parents in particular. there are complex processes that go on in an individual during this period, making them irritable in general. people in this age may begin to explore their se-xuality along with development of an understanding of their se-xual identity. Adolecents with high cognitive ability may face more mood swings.during this period there occur sever life transitions in the form of higher education, employment, training, ability to take decisions and a development of the decision making capacity of an individual.

There is an increase in the decisioni making capacity leading to an increased independence and freedom from supervision. there is development of abstract thinking and the ability to think in a multi dimensional manner. the individual begins to be prepared for the adult role with a development social ties. there is increment in knowledge along with the ability to reason in a more effective manner.

Emotional development: Due to sudden appearance or physical changes boys or girls get into tension and confused but proper discussion from elders or teacher will guide them to feel it natural rather than any abnormality. Teenagers are often confused about their role and are torn between their responsibilities as growing adults and their desires as children. basic sex education is an important step that will prepare them mentally to accept these changes.
