Explanation / Answer

The main differences between fungi and plants are presence of chitin in the cell wall of fungus where as plant cell wall contain cellulose. Plants are autotrophs and they photosynthesize where as fungi are heterotrophs. Fungi lack xylum and phloem for transport of water and nutrients, but plants have. Plants have terpene biosynthesis pathway in their chloroplast, but fungi do not have.

The differences between fungi and protists are, protists are usually unicellular where as fungi are mostly multicellular. In protists some contain cell wall and others not, where as fungi contain cell wall made up of chitin. In fungi septa are found but does not found in protists. In protists asexual reproduction occures by binary fission and sexual reproduction by gamets, while in fungi asexual reproduction by spores and sexual reproduction by mating.

These differences between fungi and other kingdom leads to form a seperate kingdom for fungi
