MIPS (Merit based incentive system ) have two tracks one is quality payment system and performance based programs .MIPS based three streamline :
1.the physician quality reporting system (pqrs)
2. Value based payment modifier program system
3.medicare electronic health record
If any individual or group participate under MIPS so it show that provided high quality and efficient care supported by technology sending information in various categories
1.quality
2. Improvement activities
3. Advanced care information system
4.cost : calculated to determine payment adjustment
Challenges and opportunities
1. Lack of incentive : those taking parts for MIPS and need financial reimbursement or fee for service as seen generally they receive lower incentive or no bonus as compare to who part in alternative payment system.
Opportunity :
Strong benchmarks and pull for alternative payment model : MIPS ( Merit based incentive payment system ) open the ways for better benchmark by providing strong incentive for physician who participate in alternative payment system if they provide effectiveness performance and benchmark so bundled of payment is mandatory .
Challenges :
