Question

describe a real-life example of one of the skeletal muscle relationships/concepts below (i.e., a situation in which you are using your muscles and their function is being effected by one of the relationships/concepts below): length-tension (cannot use bicep curl example, I have read too many of those, and I want more variety) load-velocity-tension relationship muscle metabolism and fatigue voluntary control of muscle force (motor unit recruitment and frequency modulation) describe a real-life example of one of the skeletal muscle relationships/concepts below (i.e., a situation in which you are using your muscles and their function is being effected by one of the relationships/concepts below): length-tension (cannot use bicep curl example, I have read too many of those, and I want more variety) load-velocity-tension relationship muscle metabolism and fatigue voluntary control of muscle force (motor unit recruitment and frequency modulation) describe a real-life example of one of the skeletal muscle relationships/concepts below (i.e., a situation in which you are using your muscles and their function is being effected by one of the relationships/concepts below): length-tension (cannot use bicep curl example, I have read too many of those, and I want more variety) load-velocity-tension relationship muscle metabolism and fatigue voluntary control of muscle force (motor unit recruitment and frequency modulation)

Explanation / Answer

In case of voluntary muscle contraction the motor unit recruitment can be define as the activation of motor units to accomplish an increase in contractile strength within a muscle. A motor unit comprises of one motor neuron supplied to all of the muscle fibers to stimulates. All muscles in our body consist of a numberoeus of motor units ,the fibers belonging to a motor unit are dispersed and intermingle amongst fibers of other units.Muscle fibers belong to one motor unit can be spread allover the part, or likely the entire muscle, it depends on the number of fibers and size of the muscle. When a motor neuron is activated, all of the muscle fibers innervated by the motor neuron are get stimulated and the phase of contraction begins. Activation of one motor neuron will leads to weak but distributed muscle contraction. The activation of more motor neurons will cause more muscle fibers to being activated, and thus a strong muscle contraction. Motor unit recruitment can say measure of how many motor neurons are get activated of a particular muscle, and thus is a measure of how many muscle fibers of that muscle are get activated. Higher the recruitment stronger will be the muscle contraction . Commonly it has been seen that motor units are generally recruited in terms of smallest to largest ( thus slow to fast twitch) as contraction increases.Force produced by a single motor unit is measured in part by the number of muscle fibers in the unit. Another mendatory force determinant is the frequency by which the muscle fibers are stimulated by their innervating axon. Rate at which the nerve impulses reach is the motor unit firing rate and may vary from low frequencies to produce a series of single twitch contractions to high frequencies produce a fused tetanic contraction. The motor unit firing rate of an individual motor unit is directly propertional to the muscular effort until a maximum rate is reached.
