Explanation / Answer
The primary difference between leader development and leadership development is that the former is is only an aspect of the latter. Leader development focuses on developing an individual’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is motivated by the achievement of personal goals and defines success in terms of individual progress and results. On the other hand, leadership development is a much more comprehensive process. It aims to build networked relationships and leadership capacity among team members, as well as strengthening engagement and shaping organizational culture. It is driven by collective goals and defines success as group outcomes and results.
