Wreck of the titan or futility 1898

The Wreck of the titan is a novel written by Morgan Robertson. This is a fictional story talks about the titan which sinks in the North Atlantic after striking the iceberg. The sinking have been marked very similar to the real life incident which sank 14 years later. After that the novel was reissued in the name futility or Wreck of the titan else the name of the book was futility. The author predicted the sinking of the ship 14 years earlier and it was described as the largest ship and it was named Titan and there had been a lot of controversy going around with the book and with Morgan Robertson. Many of the controversies occurred due to the similarities between the book and the real incident because both ship sink after hitting an iceberg in April, both ships had 4 propellers, 2 masts and 4 funnels. Both ship sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Those are just some similarities.

This was really strange that Morgan made a story which was written by him and exactly 14 years later the incident happened which was similar to the incident written in the book. The novel received unfair criticism due to the similarity and Morgan would have never believed that something like this can happen. The first half of the book reveals about the main character John Rowland the US Navy officer and an alcoholic fallen to the lowest levels of the society. Hence he was dismissed from the Navy and started working in the deck department in the ship itself.

The second half reveals on how john save the young girl. When the ship sink he rescues the kid who is a daughter of former lover and the lover miss-judged and caught him to the police officer stating he has been kidnaping her daughter which was not true. However when the lovers daughter confirmed that john had saved her life then he was released.

This is the actual story which revolves around the topic world of the titan. Now the question is why Morgan was penalised for the fiction turning out be a real incident. When he was writing the book he never imagined that it can really turn out to be actual incident. Many people had criticised Morgan for this and it was not his mistake that it happened. There were many stories cooking up with the novel and the sales of the novel was not further later. Some of the people supported the author and some did not support. Even after his original there were many books released by many other people on the same issue.
