Read the following scenario and consider the different actions that Alice might take.

Analyze each of her options with respect to the Software Engineering Code of Ethics

and Professional Practice. Cite the most relevant items from the Code (by number) in

each case, and conclude with your recommendation for the best course of action

according to the Code.

Alice works as a project for ABC Software, a company that develops financial software.

She reports directly to the company owner, Bob. The company has about 20 employees

in all, and it has several dozen corporate customers who depend upon their software to

support their own businesses. Thought ABCS has had success in marketing its products

in the past, in recent months sales have been sagging and it is now at risk of insolvency.

Alice is the only employee of the company in whom Bob has confided. She knows that

any day, the company may have to shut its doors and lay off all the employees. She

knows that if she tells customers or employees about this, many will likely leave, greatly

increasing the likelihood of ABCS actually failing. Her other option is to maintain Bob's

confidence, ignoring the risk of a shutdown.
