READABLE!!!!!!! AND COMPLETESuppose your college or organization is considering a new project that would involve developing an information system that would allow all employees and students/customers to access and maintain their own human resources-related information, such as address, marital status, tax information, and so on. The main benefits of the system would be a reduction in human resources personnel and more accurate information. For example, if an employee, student, or customer had a new telephone number or e-mail address, he or she would be responsible for entering the new data in the new system. The new system would also allow employees to change their tax withholdings or pension plan contributions. Identify five potential risks for this new project, being sure to list some negative and positive risks. Provide a detailed description of each risk and propose strategies for addressing each risk. Explanation / Answer
Potential risks:
Since it is a college/organization let us assume that the number of people studying/working is atleast 1000 people.
1. The system should be distributed and operatable from everyones individual computer than operating from a single place such as library/some computer center. Since people can loose their username and password and if it goes in the wrong hands then there can be potential danger of exposing important information such as salary/tax/account information.
2. The system should be able to handle more than 1000 transactions at a time. It should not become a bottleneck if multiple users operate at the same time.
3. The system should have a local copy and a backup copy. In case of some damage to the main system/loss of data the backup system should come online and the experience should be seemless. If the main system goes down then there is a potential risk of loosing important user information.
4. The network between the systems should be fast since people tent not to use the system if the application takes too long to load. Good bandwidth.
5. Security. The usernames and passwords of individual users must be encrypted and saved in the machine. Even the administrators of the main server should not be able to read the information. (Username and Passwords should not be placed in text files).
